Looking for something to do in Montreal this weekend? 🇰🇷

The Montreal Korean Festival – Jeonju Edition is back from August 13 to 16, 2026, bringing four days of Korean food, culture, K-pop, beauty, art and entertainment to Bassin Peel in Griffintown.

Whether you're already passionate about Korea or simply curious about Korean food, skincare, music and traditions, here's what to know before visiting the festival.

What Is the Montreal Korean Festival?

The Montreal Korean Festival, also known as La Semaine Coréenne, is an annual celebration designed to introduce Montrealers to different sides of Korean culture.

For 2026, the festival is putting the spotlight on Jeonju (전주), one of South Korea's most culturally significant cities.

The four-day event will feature everything from K-pop performances and Korean food to traditional games, hanbok experiences, Korean-language activities, art and K-beauty.

Why Is the 2026 Festival All About Jeonju?

If Seoul represents the fast-paced, modern side of South Korea, Jeonju offers visitors a window into Korea's traditions, food and cultural heritage.

Located in southwestern South Korea, Jeonju is particularly famous for its traditional Korean architecture and culinary culture.

Its best-known attraction is Jeonju Hanok Village, where hundreds of traditional Korean hanok buildings create one of Korea's most recognizable historic neighbourhoods.

Jeonju is also deeply associated with Korean gastronomy.

In fact, the city is widely regarded as one of Korea's great food destinations and is particularly famous as the birthplace of Jeonju bibimbap.

The 2026 Montreal festival brings some of that Jeonju identity to Quebec through food, performances, cultural experiences and hands-on activities.

What to Expect at the Montreal Korean Festival 2026

This isn't only a food festival.

The Jeonju Edition is designed as a broader immersion into Korean culture, with activities happening throughout the four days.

Visitors can expect:

  • Korean food and Jeonju-inspired specialties

  • K-pop performances

  • Traditional Korean performances

  • Korean games

  • Hanbok try-on and photo opportunities

  • Korean cooking classes

  • Korean-language workshops

  • Live Korean art experiences

  • Contests and challenges

  • Korean cultural and business networking

  • A dedicated K-Beauty Zone

That last one is where you'll find us.

THEKSHOP at the Montreal Korean Festival: A Tradition We Look Forward to Every Year

For THEKSHOP, the Montreal Korean Festival is much more than another summer event—it has become one of our annual traditions.

We've been proud to participate in the festival year after year, joining the Montreal community as each edition celebrates a different theme and a different side of Korean culture.

Every year brings something new, but one thing stays the same: we get to step outside our stores, meet so many of you in person and celebrate our shared love for Korean culture together.

For the 2026 Jeonju Edition, we're excited to be back once again as a vendor, bringing K-beauty to the festival alongside Korean food, music, art, traditions and entertainment.

If you've visited our booth in previous years, come say hello again. And if this is your first Montreal Korean Festival, we can't wait to meet you.

After so many editions together, it wouldn't feel like summer in Montreal without it. 🇰🇷💜

Why K-Beauty Belongs at a Korean Cultural Festival

K-beauty has become one of the most visible parts of contemporary Korean culture around the world.

Ingredients such as centella asiatica, PDRN, rice, heartleaf and snail mucin, along with innovations like toner pads, hydrogel masks and lightweight Korean sunscreens, have helped turn Korean skincare into a global beauty phenomenon.

But K-beauty is more than a collection of viral products.

Korean skincare culture traditionally places considerable emphasis on consistent routines, hydration, sun care and supporting the skin barrier, rather than relying solely on aggressive treatments.

Visiting the K-Beauty Zone at the Montreal Korean Festival gives newcomers an opportunity to experience that culture beyond what they see on TikTok or Instagram.

New to Korean Skincare? Come Talk to Us

You don't need a 10-step skincare routine to get started with K-beauty.

Tell us your skin type and what you're looking for—whether that's hydration, brightening, soothing, barrier care, mature skin or simply building a basic Korean skincare routine.

We'll help point you in the right direction.

Then you probably don't need much convincing.

The festival is a perfect excuse to spend the day surrounded by Korean culture while discovering some new beauty finds along the way.

Korean Food Is Another Reason to Come Hungry

One of the highlights of this year's festival is its focus on Jeonju's culinary identity.

Jeonju is closely associated with some of Korea's most celebrated food traditions, making food an especially important part of the 2026 edition.

Festival organizers are highlighting Korean cuisine alongside cooking experiences and Jeonju-inspired specialties.

Our recommendation?

Come hungry.

Explore the food first, enjoy the performances, discover the cultural activities—and then come find us in the K-Beauty Zone.

More Than K-Pop: Discover Korean Culture in Montreal

The worldwide popularity of K-pop and K-dramas has introduced millions of people to South Korea.

But Korean culture extends far beyond Hallyu entertainment.

The Montreal Korean Festival is an opportunity to experience elements of Korea that aren't always visible through a screen—from traditional clothing and games to language, cuisine, visual arts and live performances.

You can try on a hanbok, participate in Korean cultural activities, learn some Korean, discover Jeonju's food traditions, watch performances and explore contemporary Korean beauty—all without leaving Montreal.

Is the Montreal Korean Festival Family-Friendly?

The range of activities makes the festival an easy outing for different ages.

Traditional games, food, performances, cultural experiences and interactive activities give families plenty to explore together.

K-pop and K-beauty fans will naturally have plenty to see, but you certainly don't need to already know Korean culture to enjoy the festival.

Do You Need to Know Korean?

Absolutely not.

The event is designed to share Korean culture with the wider Montreal community.

Whether you speak Korean fluently, know a few words from K-dramas, or your entire Korean vocabulary currently consists of annyeong and saranghae, you're welcome.

How Much Is the Montreal Korean Festival?

Admission is very accessible.

Early Bird tickets: $4
At the event: $5

Once inside, visitors can explore the festival programming, performances, cultural activities and vendor areas.

Food, products and certain experiences may have their own costs.

Where Is the Korean Festival in Montreal?

When Is the Best Time to Visit?

The festival runs for four days, so you have several opportunities to visit.

If you're mainly interested in exploring food and vendor booths with a little more time, arriving earlier in the day can also help you get ahead of the busiest evening crowds.
