What is the double cleanse?
The double cleanse in K-beauty world involves washing your face in two steps, first by using an oil-based cleanser, followed by a water-based cleanser.
1️⃣ The first step draws out oil-based impurities such as sebum, SPF and pollutants.
Oil-based cleansers come in either liquid oils, creams or balms and should be placed onto dry skin. Just pump or scoop your chosen oil cleanser onto your hand and massage it onto your dry face using gentle upward circular motions. Next, with the cleanser still on your face, add a little water and massage again. This action emulsifies the product. You can tell this is happening if the product turns milky. Lastly, rinse the product off with lukewarm water. Done!

2️⃣ The second step cleanses water-based debris such as sweat and dirt.
Once you’ve rinsed off your oil cleanser, massage your water-based cleanser onto your damp face using the same gentle upwards motions. Then rinse off with lukewarm water, pat dry, and you’re done! Your skin should feel soft, clean but not tight and dry.

Together, these two cleanses work to provide your face with the kind of deep clean that isn't possible with a single cleanse.
Double cleansing prevents breakouts and gets you started with a clean canvas for skincare and makeup.
